Who is responsible

Facio Innovations Technology (“Faciotech”), registered in Ghana and Canada, owns and operates Nearwick. It is the controller of the personal data Nearwick processes.

How we handle personal data

• We collect only what we need for a stated purpose, and use it for that purpose.
• We say what we collect and why, in the privacy policy.
• We keep data accurate, and correct it when asked.
• We keep it no longer than we need it.
• We protect it, and limit who can see it.
• We ask for consent where the law needs it, such as for analytics, and never tick a box for you.

Ghana

In Ghana, the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) applies. Under it, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it.

You can complain to the Data Protection Commission.

Canada

In Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies. Under it, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, challenge its accuracy and have it corrected, and withdraw your consent.

You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

European Union and United Kingdom

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies. You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable form. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

We rely on the following legal bases.

• Your consent, for analytics.
• The service you asked for, for business accounts and the pages they manage.
• Our legitimate interests, for running the directory, answering messages and safety reports, and keeping Nearwick secure. You can object to these at any time.

You can complain to the data protection authority where you live. In the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner’s Office. The European Data Protection Board lists the authority for each EU country.

Using your rights

Use the contact form, choose “Privacy or my data”, and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to check that the request comes from you before we act.

We reply within 5 working days, and act on a valid request to correct or delete data within 30 days.

Data processed in other countries

Nearwick runs on servers operated by Faciotech. Some of our service providers work in other countries, so your data may be processed outside the country where you live. The privacy policy lists them.
