How to use Nearwick

Read the date, not a score

Why the age and source of a detail can tell you more than a single rating.

A number can feel reassuring. Yet a single score rarely tells you what was checked, when it happened or whether it matters to your particular need. Nearwick uses a different approach. It puts dates beside business details and names a check when one has been carried out.

Different dates answer different questions

An unclaimed page shows when its details were last known to be updated. Some details may come from the business’s own website and carry the date Nearwick last read them. A check describes a particular test, such as whether a website was reachable on a certain date. None of these dates is a promise that the detail is still true today.

Look for the source

A business that manages its page supplies its own description, hours, website and public phone number. On an unclaimed page, the information may instead come from a licensed dataset or OpenStreetMap. Knowing that difference helps you decide what to verify directly. Read where listings come from.

Make the decision yourself

You might care about distance, weekend hours or a particular service. Another person might care about something else. A dated detail lets each of you check what matters without asking a star rating to stand in for judgment. Learn what the dates mean.
