About us
Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital, Rwanda’s only referral and teaching hospital for psychiatry and neurology, provides specialised healthcare in line with Rwanda’s National Health Sector policies and professional ethics. Located in Nezerwa Village, Kibenga Cell, Ndera Sector, Gasabo District, Kigali City, the hospital is 17 kilometres from Kigali City Centre. Established in 1968, it has expanded to include two branches: CARAES Butare (1976) in Huye District and Icyizere Psychotherapeutic Centre (2003) in Kicukiro District. The hospital was founded in 1968 by the congregation of the Brothers of Charity at the request of the Rwandan Government and the Catholic Church. The Government supports the hospital by setting health policies and providing human resources, while the Brothers of Charity handle administrative matters and manage the daily operations of the hospital.
