Ghana Insurers Association

The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) is a prominent trade Association for all companies registered and licensed to transact insurance business in Ghana. It serves as the collective voice and representative body for insurance companies, reinsurers, and other entities operating in the insurance sector. Established to promote the growth, development, and regulation of the insurance industry, GIA plays a crucial role in shaping policies, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the interests of its members. The Association was registered under the Companies Code, 1963 Act 179 as amended by the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), on May 27th 1988 and was inaugurated by the PNDC Member responsible for Finance and Economic Planning, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu on the 7th October 1988. GIA was formed to address the specific needs and challenges faced by the insurance industry in Ghana. It was founded to provide a unified platform for insurance companies to come together, exchange knowledge and expertise, and work towards the common goals of enhancing professionalism, improving industry standards, and protecting the interests of policyholders.
