Sabre’s journey began when Aubrey Malcolm-Green formed a deep connection with the Brenu Akyinim community in Ghana’s Central Region and they embarked upon building a school together for the community’s children. Then, Aubrey and our first CEO Dominic Bond officially founded the Sabre Charitable Trust, which laid the foundation for Sabre’s work going forward – to provide children with the best possible early childhood education. Sabre’s project work continues at Brenu Akyinim and with other neighbouring communities, focussed on classroom construction and early grade reading through phonics. Sabre partnered with architectural firm Arup to design an innovative, environmentally sustainable kindergarten school design centered around play-based learning.
