St. Thomas Eye Hospital was established in 2010 as the North Western Eye Centre until the name was changed to the current one in 2014. Over the years, we have invested heavily in human resource capacity and technology to become one of Ghana’s foremost centres for performing advanced and complex eye surgical procedures like pars plana vitrectomy for retina detachments and macular holes, glaucoma drainage device implantations, cosmetic squint surgeries and various forms of laser surgical procedures. We have 4 branches across Ghana with more than 12 ophthalmologists, 5 optometrists and other cadres working together to provide high quality services to our local and international clients. In fact, we were the first hospital in Ghana to introduce phacoemulsification cataract surgery as a routine procedure in 2011 (courtesy of Unite for Sight) and micro-incisional vitrectomy surgeries in 2013.
