Claiming and managing a listing

How a business adds itself to Nearwick, claims the page Nearwick already has for it, and manages that page.

Your account

You sign in with your email address. We send a six-digit code that works once, for 10 minutes. There is no password. The first code sent to an address creates its account.

Adding a business and claiming a page are both free.

Adding a business

If your business is not listed, you can add it. Search first, so that it is not listed twice.

A person at Nearwick reviews every new listing before it goes live, usually within two working days. We email you when it is live.

Claiming a page

If your business is listed and its page says Unclaimed, choose “Claim this page”. Say how you are connected to the business. You might own it, manage it, work there, or act for it as an agency or consultant.

A person at Nearwick checks that the business is yours before you can manage its page, usually within two working days, and emails you the answer.

A page someone already manages cannot be claimed from the website. If you think it should be yours, contact us.

While a new listing or a claim is waiting for review, you can withdraw it from your account.

Agreeing to a public page

Before anything you add is shown, you confirm that the business is yours to manage, and agree that its details appear on a public page. These boxes are never ticked for you.

What you can change

  • The description of your business.
  • Opening hours, day by day.
  • Your website.
  • A phone number to show on your page.

A phone number you add appears on your page once it is live. Leave it empty to keep it private.

The name, category and location of a live page stay as they are, because they are what people search by. To change them, reply to any email we have sent you about the listing, or contact us.

Your responsibilities

  • Only manage a business you own or run, or are allowed to act for.
  • Keep your details accurate and up to date.
  • Follow the acceptable use policy.

Your website

Nearwick reads the websites of unclaimed listings only. Once your claim is approved, NearwickBot stops reading your website for your page.

Only businesses that manage their own page can be featured. Being featured never changes the order of any listing. The featured listings policy explains more.

Removing your details or your page

You can remove anything you added at any time. To stop managing the page, to have the listing removed, or to close your account, contact us.

Valid removal requests are acted on within 30 days, and a removed listing is not added again by later imports.
