Listing, correction and removal policy
How businesses come to be listed on Nearwick, what their pages show, and how to have a listing corrected or removed.

Where listings come from
- A licensed business directory dataset for Ghana that Faciotech holds.
- OpenStreetMap, searched around the towns GeoNames lists for each country. New businesses are added every night. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence 1.0. GeoNames data is used under CC BY 4.0.
- Businesses themselves, who add their business or claim its page. A person at Nearwick reviews each one before it goes live.
Businesses’ own websites
Where an unclaimed listing has its own public website, Nearwick reads it to add the business’s own description, opening hours and services. It identifies itself as NearwickBot and keeps to each site’s robots.txt. The NearwickBot page explains how to stop it.
An AI model may help read a page. Any fact taken from a page must appear on that page. Nothing is invented. What comes from a website is shown with the date it was read.
Once a business claims its page, NearwickBot stops reading its website for it.
What a listing shows
- The business’s name, what it does and where it is.
- How old the details are, or when each one was seen or checked.
- “Unclaimed”, until the business claims its page.
- Checks, each with the date it was done.
There are no star ratings, no scores and no rankings for payment. Featured listings are always labelled, and never change the order of any listing.
What we never publish
- The names of contact people.
- Phone numbers and email addresses from datasets. They stay hidden until the business claims its page and chooses what to show.
Asking for a correction or removal
Anyone can ask us to correct or remove a listing. You do not need an account.
- Use the contact form and choose “Removing or correcting a listing”.
- Or use “Report a concern” on the business’s page.
Tell us which page it is, and what is wrong or why it should come down. If the business is yours, say so. We may ask you to show that it is.
If you run the business, you can also claim its page and correct it yourself.
What happens next
- We reply within 5 working days.
- Valid removal requests are acted on within 30 days.
- A removed listing is not added again by later imports.
If we cannot act on a request, we explain why.
Accuracy
We work to keep listings accurate, but details can go out of date. An unclaimed page has not been confirmed by the business. Check anything important with the business before you rely on it.
